One of the pioneers of the women’s soccer program, Nielsen was a key member of the Fighting Knights from 1990-93. The four-year letterwinner helped lead the team to its first national championship in 1992 and a national-runner-up finish in 1993. Nielsen was named the 1992 NAIA National Most Valuable Player when she scored 25 goals and added eight assists for 58 points. In addition, she was honored as a two-time NSCAA and two-time NAIA All-American and showed she was just as brilliant in the classroom by earning Scholar-Athlete All-America accolades in her final year. She holds the record for most goals scored in a career (89), is tied for third with 205 points and led her team in scoring and goals all four seasons.
