Melbourne, Fla. – Great days on the links and court have led Lynn University's Jenny Ayala and Klaudia Boczova to Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week honors, as announced on Monday. Ayala finished runner-up individually and led a women's golf contingent which posted the lowest 18- and 54-hole scores in program history while Boczova won all six of her matches at the top singles and doubles flight to help the women's tennis team to a perfect 3-0 weekly mark.
A senior out of Bogota, Colombia, Ayala earns her second SSC weekly nod of the year and fourth of her career. With Ayala pacing the squad, Lynn shot a five-under par 283 on the final day of competition at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational en route to a three round score of 874. She would post the seventh round of 68 in school history for a personal-best total of 212 to take second place individually. This was Ayala's second runner-up finish of the year and fourth of her career.
Boczova helped the top-ranked Fighting Knights breeze through Hillsdale College (9-0) before winning 7-2 in a neutral site victory against North Georgia and knocking of NAIA's top-ranked Georgia Gwinnett 5-3. Boczova teamed with Diana Bogolii to win 8-1 in her first two doubles matches before playing with Eliska Petrackova against the Grizzly's second-ranked tandem for an 8-5 triumph. In singles the Nové Zámky, Slovakia, product did not drop a game against Hillsdale (6-0, 6-0) and won in straight sets against North Georgia (6-2, 6-1) and Georgia Gwinett's third-ranked singles player (6-3, 6-4). Lynn moved to 8-1 on the season. This is Boczova's second SSC weekly accolade of the season and third of her career.
Women's golf can next be seen at the Barry Women's Invitational at Don Shula's Resort from March 26-27, in Miami Lakes, Fla., while the women's tennis team is back on the courts Wednesday, March 14, at home against Auburn-Montgomery at 3 p.m.
