Curtis Named NCBWA Second Team All-American

Dallas, Texas – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released its list of 2017 All-America honorees on Wednesday afternoon, with Lynn University's Tyler Curtis being named to the NCBWA All-America Second Team.

The Fighting Knights third baseman holds the title of Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year, Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-South Region Team and finalist for the 2017 Tino Martinez Award. Curtis managed to hit .433 on the year, added 15 doubles, while driving in 47 runs and stole seven bases on eight attempts.

The Newburgh, N.Y. native ranked top 10 of the SSC in slugging percentage (2nd - .733), on base percentage (1st - .518), runs scored (4th – 59), total hits (5th – 81), home runs (10th – 13), and walks (7th – 31).

The SSC had six student-athletes sprinkled throughout the list of honorees. University of Tampa's Kevin Santa (shortstop), Saint Leo's Dylan Harris (utility) and Florida Southern's Jake Walsh (starting pitcher) share the second team roster with Curtis. Vin Cosenzo (designated hitter), from Tampa, and Cameron Hanes (relief pitcher), from Florida Southern, rounded out the postseason honors for the conference with a spot on the Honorable Mention list.
