West Palm Beach, Fla. – After running its winning streak to 10 games and taking two games out of three from No. 4 Florida Southern on the week, the Lynn University baseball team has landed at the No. 9 spot in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's South Region Rankings as announced on Monday afternoon.
The Fighting Knights opened the season as the No. 8 team in the region, but fell out of the regional rankings after week three of the regular season. Lynn returns to the south region's top 10 with an overall mark of 19-12 following a three-week stretch of games that saw them go 11-3 overall and 7-2 against SSC opponents.
Middle infielders Patrick Dorrian and Tom Archer have been key components in the run of success, as Dorrian has clubbed six homers, six doubles and two triples with 24 RBIs over the stretch and Archer has contributed a .490 batting average with five home runs, three doubles and 20 runs scored in the same timeframe.
Lynn's offense has hit top-to-bottom this season, as the Fighting Knights lead the Sunshine State Conference in hits, doubles, home runs, runs scored and slugging percentage while ranking among the nation's top 10 in doubles and home runs as a team.
The Blue and White return to action with a three-game series at home against Tampa this weekend. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
