Boca Raton, Fla.-Lynn University's men's basketball team picked up their second victory of the 2012-13 season after defeating the University of Puerto Rico – Mayaguez 84-64 on Tuesday night. The Fighting Knights advance to 2-1 on the fresh season while Mayaguez falls to 1-3 overall.
Lynn was led by Pavle Raickovic and Jeremy Lampkin who tallied 17 points a-piece alongside two other Knights who recorded double digits as well. Slobodan Miljanic made five of six shots from behind the three point arc to tally 16 points and four rebounds. Brandon Smith, who is currently leading the team in scoring, added thirteen points as well.
The Knights shot an impressive 73.3% from the charity line over the course of the game, making all of their first half shots. The Blue and White shot 52.5% from the field while Mayaguez shot 53.3%. LU pulled down a total of 38 boards in the contest and made 13 steals.
The lead changed only five times in the game but once LU gained a nine point lead with 4:29 remaining the visitors were unable to recover. Mayaguez was led by Alexander Curet who tallied 12 points in the loss.
