BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Lynn University's men's basketball team lost to Rollins College, 53-46, in a Sunshine State Conference match. Jeremy Lampkin led the Fighting Knights with 14 points while Kevin Ohen contributed seven rebounds and three assists. Lynn drops to 11-12 overall and 3-10 in SSC play, while Rollins improves to 16-6, 8-4 in the SSC.
The Tars scored the first points of the game making two free throws after a Jerrell Oxendine foul. Rollins would reach a seven-point advantage, at 9-2. A 19-4 run by Lynn gave the Knights their largest lead of the night. A late Tars rally cut LU's lead to 23-21 at the break.
Lynn shot 40 percent in the opening half with Lampkin and Ohen each scoring six points. The Fighting Knights pulled down 16 boards while connecting on six-of-seven free throws. LU was able to hold Rollins to 27.8 percent from the floor.
In the final half, the score tied four times. Lynn saw its largest lead in the final period, after a Herbert Thomas layup gave them a 29-25 advantage. Rollins would respond with five straight points to hold the lead for the remainder of the game.
Lampkin added another eight points in the second half, shooting 100 percent from the field. Fellow senior Shamel Akins connected on all five shots from the charity line. Overall the Blue and White shot 92.3 percent from the free throw line and 35.6 percent from the floor.
Lynn's three seniors, Slobodan Miljanic, Jeremy Lampkin, and Shamel Akins will play their final home contest in blue and white this Wednesday, February 20.
