Men’s Basketball Falls to Florida Southern

Boca Raton, Fla.-Lynn University's men's basketball team lost their debut Sunshine State Conference game of the season to visiting Florida Southern, 56-61. Slobodan Miljanic recorded a team-high 12 points and nine rebounds in the loss. Lynn now stands at 3-3 overall, 0-1 in SSC play while Florida Southern advances to 4-1 overall, 1-0 in the conference. 

LU took an immediate 4-2 lead in the game but after a trey from Seth Evans for Florida Southern, the Mocs took a 5-4 lead. A 12-4 run for the Fighting Knights put them back on top for the remainder of the half. The Blue and White headed into the locker room with a eight point spread over the Mocs, 30-22. 

Miljanic made four of five shots from behind the arc to total 12 points in the first half. LU shot 56.5% from the field while Florida Southern shot 29%. 14 of Lynn's first half points were scored in the paint while the visitors had only six points in the paint. 

The Knights came out of the locker room to take their biggest lead of the game of 14 points at 16:28, with the Mocs trailing 38-24. Florida Southern then went on a 24-5 run to take the lead from the Knights with 6:49 remaining, at 45-48. The Mocs went up by as much as eight with 4:20 to play but the Fighting Knights were able to close the margin to 56-58 with 15 seconds left. Florida Southern made all of their final free throws which gave them the 56-61 victory over LU. 

Florida Southern improved their offense shooting 45.5% while Lynn shot 37.9% in the second half. Dominic Lane scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Mocs in the victory. Kaleb Clyburn recorded nine points and four assists, while Pavle Raickovic, Shamel Akins, and Brandon Smith all added eight points a-piece.
