Miami Shores, Fla.- Lynn University's Aaron Harrison scored a team-high 21 points in the Fighting Knights 86-69 loss on the road at rival Barry in Sunshine State Conference action on Wednesday night. The Fighting Knights stand at 18-7 overall heading into the final game of the regular season on Saturday.
Lynn took a 4-0 lead to open the game but Barry would quickly get itself on the board. At the first media timeout the Fighting Knights led the Bucs, 8-7. Lynn was within two, 15-13, at the 11:09 mark but over the next five minutes Barry would pull ahead to have its largest lead, by 16 points, with six and a half minutes to play. BU's Juan Farrales hit a buzzer beating trey at the end of the half to put Barry ahead 44-31.
Lynn shot 38.2 percent from the field and was led by Fred Landers who had nine points. Russell Wilson had six points, three rebounds four assists in the half. Barry shot 54.5 percent from the field and 53.8 percent from three-point range while out-rebounding the Fighting Knights, 22-15.
Harrison scored 16 points in the final 20 minutes as the Blue & White shot 34.5 percent from the field and 40 percent from behind the arc. The Fighting Knights trailed by as many as 21 points with 6:48 to play but were able to bring the game within 14 points over the next few minutes. Barry held on to win 86-69 and improve to 22-3 overall and 13-2 in SSC action.
Ben Berry scored 14 points connecting on four shots from downtown. Wilson had a team-high five assists adding seven points and six rebounds. Cory Thomas had nine points seven boards and a pair of blocks.
Lynn returns home on Saturday, February 28 to host the Panthers of Florida Tech in the final game of the SSC regular season. Tip-off is set for 4 pm following a brief ceremony in which the Blue & White's four seniors, Mike Birts, TJ Bullock, Harrison and Thomas will be recognized.
