Norwood Named Top Assistant in Division II Men’s Basketball

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Tae Norwood, associate head men's basketball coach at Lynn University, has been tabbed the top men's basketball assistant coach in all of NCAA Division II by CoachStat.net.

Norwood, who just wrapped up his fifth season alongside head coach Jeff Price as the Fighting Knights' top assistant, has over 16 years of coaching experience across all NCAA divisions and the NAIA. At Lynn, he plays a role in recruiting, fundraising, player development, scheduling, scouting, travel and budgeting.

"It was great to see coach Norwood recognized for his outstanding work on a national level," said Price. "Tae has worked with me at both the Division I and Division II level and has established himself as one of the best across the country. Well deserved."

Over his five-year tenure in Boca Raton, Norwood has overseen the development of student-athletes who were recognized with major awards such as Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, SSC Newcomer of the Year, SSC All-Conference, SSC All-Freshman, NABC Division II All-Star Team, NABC All-Region and Daktronics All-Region.

During the 2016-17 campaign, Norwood helped guide senior-transfer Marquan Botley to a record-breaking season. Botley became the program's first-ever SSC Newcomer of the Year to go along with All-SSC Second Team plaudits while breaking school records for three-pointers made in a season (97) and in a single game (10).

In his first season at Lynn, Norwood was key in recruiting Aaron Harrison, a junior transfer from Florida State College at Jacksonville. Harrison was named to the 2013-14 SSC All-Newcomer Team as well as Second Team All-Conference where he led the team in 12 statistical categories including points (17.3) and rebounds (8.2). As a senior in 2015, Harrison was honored as a Daktronics All-South Region and NABC All-District Second Team selection while garnering All-SSC First Team honors.

In the fall of 2016, Norwood was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame at his alma mater, Green Mountain College, where he helped the Eagles to a 53-4 record in conference play, three Mayflower Conference championships and advanced to the postseason tournament three times. He was a member of the Mayflower All-Conference Team in both his junior and senior seasons, finishing his career as GMC's all-time career leader in assists and steals.
