Men’s Basketball Inks DeAndre Pinckney for 2019-20

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University's men's basketball team is off to a good start in 2018-19 with a 2-0 record and the Fighting Knights are already adding pieces for the future as head coach Jeff Price announced the signing of DeAndre Pinckney to a National Letter of Intent.

"We are very excited to have DeAndre as part of our Lynn family," said Price. "We expect him to have an immediate impact on our program as he continues to develop his game. He is extremely versatile for his size with tremendous upside."

A local product out of Miami Gardens, Fla., Pinckney is currently playing his freshman season at nearby Broward College.

Pinckney has played in all seven of Broward's game so far this year, starting six, and has logged some high-profile statistics in his first stint of collegiate action. He ranks second on the team at 17.9 points per game while leading the Seahawks inside with 8.4 rebounds and 0.7 blocks per game. He has scored 20+ points in four of seven games and already has three double-doubles.

A 6-foot-8 forward who is not afraid to step outside and shoot, Pinckney has knocked down 4-of-12 triples on the year and is currently shooting 55.1% from the field. He has caused problems inside for defenders, logging a team-high 52 free-throw attempts on the season.

A latecomer to the game after not playing basketball until high school, Pinckney played all four years of his high school ball at Miami Carol City, earning a varsity starting spot in his final three seasons. He averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds as a senior, was named the district's Co-Defensive Player of the Year and was selected to play in four different all-star games.
