Men’s Basketball Uses Late Free Throws to Stay Undefeated At Home

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The 14th-ranked Lynn University's men's basketball team continued its winning ways in Boca Raton with an 80-77 Sunshine State Conference victory over Rollins College on Saturday afternoon. This marks the first time since the 2014-15 season where the Fighting Knights have swept the season series over the Tars.

STATS OF THE GAME:

  • Michael Baez finished with a game-high 22 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field and a 5-of-6 effort at the free-throw line. He rounded out a solid night with four rebounds, two steals and three assists.

  • Jamal Palmer scored 18 points while shooting 40% from beyond the arc and logged a team-best eight rebounds.

  • Darius Moore got his fourth start in as many games, chipping in 10 points. The guard added five boards and a team-high five helpers.

  • Rasheed Worrell had a big game defensively with four blocks and a steal. He also dished out four assists and hauled in six boards.  

  • Darius James and Ryan Peterson chipped in nine points apiece off the bench. James was 4-of-4 from the field, while all of Peterson's attempts came from long range (3-of-6).

  • Daniel Cooper was 2-for-3 from the field and came down with six boards.

  • The Fighting Knights outrebounded the Tars 17-11 in the first half and 34-26 throughout the game.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • This marks the first time in Fighting Knights history both the men and women's basketball teams have beaten the Tars on the same day.

  • The 12-game home win streak marks the longest in Lynn history.

  • This is the sixth time this season Baez has scored 20+ points.

  • Ryan Peterson did not attempt a two-point FG at home for the first game this season.

  • Lynn shot 16 of its 18 free throws in the last two minutes of the game. They had two attempts in the first 38 minutes of play.

  • Lynn's 18 defensive boards are the lowest this season since they had 17 against Caldwell on Dec. 19.
