Seaside, Calif. – Lynn University's men's golf team completed the opening day of the Otter invitational in ninth place out of 18 teams following 36 holes of competition. Martin Cancino holds the low score for the Fighting Knights with a 151.
A difficult opening 18 holes saw the Blue & White post a 313 as a team. Cancino and Elliott Whitley paced the squad with scores of 77. Cancino would post a 74 in the second round for a 151 total while Whitley logged a 153 score.
Second round action brought a 15-stroke improvement overall, giving Lynn a 611 total. Nova Southeastern (584) is first overall followed by host Cal-State Monterey Bay (588), British Colombia (592), Simon Fraser (598) and Barry (601).
The biggest improvement on the day came from Jose Miranda, who shaved 10 strokes off his score for a team-best 73 in the second round. Keith Greene showed a four-stroke turnaround after logging a 75 in the last 18-holes for the day while Fraser Thain recorded a 161, respectively.
