Men’s Golf Tied for Third at Pirate Invite

Pooler, Ga. – Lynn University's men's golf team braved the rain and is tied for third after 36-holes at the Armstrong Pirate Men's Invite.  Keith Greene is tied for sixth individually after shooting a two-under par 142 at the Savannah Quarters Golf Course.

The Fighting Knights started the day by shooting a four-under par 284 as a team but hit a snag on the next 18-holes by firing a 294.  Their 578 is eight strokes behind leader Wingate (570).  Nova Southeastern is second at 571 with West Georgia tied with Lynn.  Flagler rounds out the top-five at 579.

Greene posted his third-lowest round of the season in the opening round by shooting a three-under 69.  He then shot a one-over 73 over the latter-half of the afternoon.  He has shot par or better in six of 19 rounds played this year.

Mateo Gomez continued his solid play with back-to-back rounds of 72, putting him at an even-par 144 and into tie for 16th place with teammate Jose Miranda.  Miranda also opened with a 69 before closing the day with a 75 for the 144 total.

Elliott Whitley was consistent in each round, carding scores of 74-74 for a 148.  He is tied for 29th overall.  Martin Cancino rounded out the starting five with a 154, respectively.

The Fighting Knights also brought two players, Manuel Torres and Fraser Thain, as individuals.  Torres started slow with a 76 but ended strong with an even par 72.  Thain shot consecutive rounds of 78.
