Greene Places in Top-10 for Men’s Golf at Pirate Invite

Pooler, Ga. – Weather gave Lynn University's men's golf team fits in the final round but Keith Greene battled to finish tied for eighth overall at the Armstrong Pirate Men's Invite.  The Fighting Knights tied for fifth out of 15 teams in the field.

A senior out of Debary, Fla., Greene logged his fourth consecutive top-10 finish, and fifth overall this season.  He finished with rounds of 69-73-75 for one-over par 217.  It is his third-lowest 54-hole total of the year.

Mateo Gomez posted the second-best score on the day for the Blue & White, carding a five-over 77 at the Savannah Quarters Golf Club.  He finished with a 221 total to tie for 19th individually.   Jose Miranda was one shot behind Gomez with a 222 to enter into a tie for 23rd.

Elliott Whitley and Martin Cancino were the final two scores for Lynn's starting five and the duo posted final scores of 227 and 232.  The Fighting Knights also brought Manuel Torres and Fraser Thain as individuals with Torres, tied for 38th with a score of 229, earning the highest finish among players unattached from the team.  Thain and his two playing partners, unfortunately, were disqualified for a scorecard error.

Lynn shot 308 as a team on the final day, giving the team a two-day total of 886.  Nova Southeastern claimed victory with an 868, nine shots ahead of Wingate (877), which entered the day with the lead.  Flagler (880) and Saint Leo (885) each advanced past the Blue & White for third and fourth while West Georgia tied (886) for fifth.

The Fighting Knights have almost two weeks off before competing in the Southeastern Collegiate from March 8-10, in Valdosta, Ga.  Fans can read more about the men's golf team at and receive in-tournament updates by following @Lynn_Knights on Twitter and Instagram.
