Men’s Golf Heads to Final Round in Second at SE Collegiate

Valdosta, Ga. -  Lynn University's men's golf team posted the third-lowest score of the second round and will head to the last day of the Southeastern Collegiate in second place out of 18 teams.  Keith Greene and Mateo Gomez each shot even par for the Fighting Knights on the 7,311-yard par 72 Kinderlou Forest Golf Club course.

Despite the Blue & White's great effort on the links their 290 team score was surpassed by Saint Leo, who shot 12-under par on the day.  The Lions (568) hold a nine stroke lead over Lynn (577).  Flagler is third at 585, followed by Florida Southern and Barry (587) tied for fourth.

Greene had a bumpy start to the morning as he bogeyed the first hole and birdied the second but then went double-bogey and bogey to sit three over after four holes.  Luckily he settled down and shot three-under par over the next 14 holes.  He is tied for seventh with a 143, five shots back of Joey Savioe of Saint Leo.

Gomez played steady for much of the day carding 14 pars with two bogeys and a pair of birdies.  The Colombian native dropped to one-under par after 15 but bogeyed his final hole to move to even.

Elliott Whitley and Jose Miranda each shot rounds of 73 but took different paths to getting there.  Whitley recorded 15 pars and one birdie but bogeys on holes 17 and 18 brought him to the clubhouse one-over par.  Miranda mixed in three birdies with four bogeys throughout the round for his 73.

Martin Cancino was the last score for Lynn.  He shot a 75, with two birdies, three bogeys and one double-bogey.

The Fighting Knights will be paired with Saint Leo and Flagler in the final round and will tee off on the first hole beginning at 10 a.m.  Fans can keep up with the action live at and receive in-tournament updates by following @Lynn_Knights on Twitter and Instagram.
