Eighth Place Finish for Men's Golf at D2 National Preview

Denver, Colo. - It was a tough day on the links for Lynn University's second-ranked men's golf team as it concluded play at the Division II National Preview in eighth place out of 22 teams.  Manuel Torres posted a one-under par 71 and Jose Miranda tied for 14th individually.

The Fighting Knights shot 11-over par on the day (299) as only four teams completed the final round under par on the Green Valley Ranch GC par 72, 7,095-yrd course.  Chico State claimed top honors with an 844, followed by Sunshine State Conference schools Barry and Nova Southeastern (857), CSU-Monterey Bay (859) and Central Missouri (868).

Torres logged a 71 by mixing in four birdies with 12 pars, a bogey and one double-bogey.  He finished with a 54-hole total of 221 and tied for 39th.  Miranda maintained steady play throughout the 2-day event, shooting rounds of 71-71-72 to finish with a two-under par 214.

Mateo Gomez overcame early double and triple bogeys to end his day with birdie putts on three of his last eight holes for a 74.  He was tied for 28th with a 219 total.  Elliott Whitley (227) and Andres Arango (235) rounded out the Lynn contingent.
