Let the Darkness Fall; Men’s Golf Fourth in Shortened Opening Day of McDonough Cup

Orlando, Fla. – Only the setting sun could hold back Lynn University's golf team as it shot eight-under par in the opening round and was 10-under par overall through a shortened second round of the McDonough Cup.  The Fighting Knights are in fourth place while Manuel Torres and Mateo Gomez are each within the top-10.

An eight-under par 280 on the 6,955-yard, par 72 Rio Pinar Country Club course was a great way to start the day. The team carded 17 holes of birdie or better.  With darkness creeping, the Blue & White saw themselves trailing Florida Southern by five shots, Flagler by three strokes and West Florida by two while holding a two-shot lead over host Rollins.

Torres carded a 69 over the first 18 holes and was even par through 15 holes of the second round to be at three-under par along with Gomez, who shot 70 and was one-under through 15 holes. Elliott Whitley is tied for 20th at two-under par with Jose Miranda and Andreas Tancred two and three over par.  Also participating is Andres Arango, who was two-under in the first round and even through 13 holes in the second round.
