Lakeland, Florida - Lynn University's men's golf team posted the second-lowest team round of the day to finish fifth out of 15 teams at The Matlock Collegiate Classic. Manuel Torres recorded his second career top-10 finish to pace the Fighting Knights.
The Blue & White continued their trend of improving every round by shooting 292 as a team, tying with Saint Leo for the second-lowest round and three shots back of West Florida. The Lions claimed top honors with a 54-hole total of 869 on the 7,065-yard, par 72 Lone Palm Course. Barry (877) and West Florida were locked in a tie for second, followed by Nova Southeastern (879) and host Florida Southern (881) and Lynn (881).
Torres tied for seventh with rounds of 71-73-74 for a 218 total. This marks the third-lowest 54-hole score of his career. Jose Andres Miranda and Mateo Gomez matched each other's total with a 220 to tie for 14th. Miranda and Andreas Tancred posted the lowest round on the team with 72s as Tancred shot a 223. Elliott Whitley shot a 240 as the fifth competitor for Lynn.
