Miami Beach, Fla. – Lynn University's men's golf team utilized two consistent rounds of play on Monday, sitting in second place through two rounds at The Battle at the Shores hosted by Barry University. Two Fighting Knights are within the top-10 individually.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Fighting Knights strung together two strong rounds of 280 to total an eight-under 560 on the opening day, placing them two strokes back in second place.
  • Florida Southern leads the pack at a 10-under 558 behind a tournament-best 275 in the first round. Host Barry is in third (561), followed by fellow conference rivals Nova Southeastern (564) and Florida Tech (566).
  • Toto Gana backed up a solid 68 in the first round with a 70 in the second round, totaling a 138 on the day. His four-under mark has him in a three-way tie for fourth place.
  • Felix Kvarnstrom got stronger throughout the day, carding rounds of 71 and 69 for a two-under 140. He is in a tie for eighth.
  • Jorge Villar finished even on the day, bouncing back from a 74 in the first round with a 68 on the second set of 18 holes.
  • Manuel Torres came out on fire with a 68 to start the tournament, but cooled off, sitting in a tie for 18that 143.
  • Carlos Bustos rounded out the Blue and White contingent, logging two rounds of 73 for a 146 total.
  • Florida Southern's John VanDerLaan had himself a day, shooting two rounds of five-under golf (66) to lead the field comfortably at 132.
BEYOND THE SCORECARD:
  • The top-5 teams all hail from the Sunshine State Conference.
  • Torres and Villar each posted 10 birdies on the day, two shy of the category leader.
  • Gana's 26 pars through two rounds are tied for the most in the field. He also went five-under on par-4 holes, bested only by the tournament leader.
