Indianapolis, Ind. – Lynn University's men's golf team is one of 80 teams that has been selected to play in the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship, as announced by the NCAA. The Fighting Knights will participate in the South/Southeast Regional at Rock Barn Country Club in Conover, N.C. from May 7-9.
This is the 16th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance for the Blue and White. The top-seven teams, and top-three individuals not associated with a qualifying team, advance to the national championship May 21-25, at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at the Shoals, Fighting Joe Course in Muscle Shoals, Ala.
Lynn is familiar with both host sites having played RTG at the Shoals in the regionals last season and participated at Rock Barn in 2015.
The Fighting Knights are in the midst of one of the top seasons in program history statistically. Their spring and overall stroke average as well as team stroke average are first in school history while the team's victory at the FAU Spring Championship set program records for lowest 18 and 54-hole totals. The win also gave Lynn at least one tournament victory in nine consecutive years.
Leading the way on the links is a pair of All-Americans in senior Manuel Torres and sophomore Toto Gana. Both rank among the leaders nationally in stroke average (71.21 and 71.0) while the duo have combined for nine top-10 finishes.
Lynn will be looking for its first NCAA national title after a runner-up finish in 2017. It was the third runner-up finish under head coach Andrew Danna and fourth in program history. The Blue and White have reached perennial success under Danna, having reached match play at nationals all five years in his tenure.
