Men’s Golf Places Sixth at Cougar Invite

Columbus, Ga. – Lynn University's second-ranked men's golf team posted its best round to move up five positions and finish sixth at the Cougar Invitational presented by Aflac.

  • Lynn (863) shot an even par 284, jumping up five positions from 11th to sixth place and just missing out on a top-five finish.  Carson-Newman (843) overtook first place ahead of Florida Southern (846), Valdosta State (849), Florida Tech (851) and Lee (862).
  • Jorge Villar was the only Fighting Knight to shoot even par through 54-holes with a 213 total.  He ended the tournament tied for 18th.
  • Toto Gana was consistent throughout the two-day event, shooting rounds of 72-73-72 for 217 total. He tied for 34th individually.
  • Carlos Bustos logged the lowest round of the tournament for a member of the Blue and White, heading into the clubhouse with a three-under par 68.  His 218 three-round total was one off Gana and tied him for 37th.
  • Felix Kvarnstrom posted a 219 total while Justin Wynen turned in a 223, respectively.


  • The Fighting Knights shared the tournament lead in par 5 scoring (-18) and was tied for second in par 3 (+7) scoring.
  • Gana was tied for second in par 3 scoring (-1) while Bustos ended up fourth in par 5 (-6) scoring.
  • Felix Kvarnstrom (38) and Justin Wynen (37) were tied for fifth and eighth in total pars and Villar is tied for eighth in total birdies (12).
  • Wynen is making his first career appearance in the starting five for the Fighting Knights.
  • This is the first tournament for the Fighting Knights under the direction of head coach Andy Walker.
