Norman, Okla. - Lynn University's men's golf team will take the momentum of winning its final fall tournament and a No. 2 national ranking into the spring following the announcement of the Bushnell Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll on Friday. Six of the top-seven teams all hail from the Sunshine State Conference.
The defending NCAA Division II National Champions did not make up any ground on No. 1 Barry in the latest poll despite outlasting the Buccaneers to win the Otter Invitational. This was the program's third victory at the Otter Invite.
Barry received all 20 first place votes for 500 points. The Fighting Knights finished the fall with 459 points, three points ahead of third-ranked Florida Tech. Saint Leo (416) and West Florida (409) round out the top-five.
In addition to Lynn's top finish in California, the squad also claimed runner-up honors at the NCAA DII Preview, held at the site of the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship.
Individually, Toto Gana led the Blue and White with a 70.67 stroke average and three top-10 finishes while Jorge Villar was second with a 71.25 average and two top-10s. Four of Lynn's top-five golfers all placed within the top-10 at least once this fall.
Lynn returns to competition in the spring at the Matlock Invitational beginning on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019.
