BOCA RATON, Fla. – The defending NCAA Division II National Championship Lynn University men's golf team strengthened its case for a repeat as head coach Andy Walker announced the addition of four student-athletes, Agustin Errazuriz, Roberto Lebrija, Giovanni Manzoni and Maria Gomez, for the 2019 spring semester.
Errazuriz is already in mid-season form following an eighth place finish at the 2019 Latin American Amateur Championship, the preeminent Latin American tournament whose winner receives an automatic qualifier for The Masters Tournament. The Santiago, Chile, native is ranked 138th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and second in his native country, ahead of All-American Toto Gana.
Lebrija arrives in Boca Raton following two seasons at the University of Oregon. He came to Eugene a highly-touted golfer who had medaled at the U.S. Amateur qualifier and finished fourth overall at the Junior World Championships at Torrey Pines.
Manzoni is currently ranked 305th in the world and fifth in Italy. He took medalist honors at the Gara del Golf Club Castelconturbia, posting rounds of 68-69 for a one-stroke victory. Gomez has also been impressive prior to Lynn, winning the Hurricane Junior Open at Celebration with a 54-hole three-under par score of 213.
These four newcomers join a national championship returning cast of All-American Toto Gana, Freshman All-American Jorge Villar, Carlos Bustos and Felix Kvarnstrom, who graduates this spring and is transferring to The Ohio State University.
Lynn's spring season begins Monday, Feb. 11, at the Matlock Invitational at Lone Palm Golf Course in Lakeland, Fla. For more information check out LynnFightingKnights.com.
