Brous Secures Second SSC Honor of the Season

Melbourne, Fla. – Dryden Brous of the Lynn University lacrosse team has been tabbed the Sunshine State Conference Specialist of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.

For the second time in the past three weeks and sixth time in his young career, the sophomore has claimed the weekly specialist award from the conference office.

Brous had another strong week for Lynn at the faceoff X as the Fighting Knights won both of their outings, including a big upset on the road. The Blue and White first took down Westminster (Utah) at home, 14-9, before going on the road and pulling off a big fourth-quarter comeback to upset No. 10 Belmont Abbey, 10-9. The win over Belmont Abbey is the program's second-ever over a top-10 opponent.

For the week, Brous won 32-of-42 faceoffs (76%) and picked up a team-high 25 ground balls. Against Westminster, the Fighting Knights dominated the faceoff battle yet again, winning 19-of-26 attempts. Brous shouldered the lion's share, going 17-for-21 with a career-high-tying 13 ground balls and an assist. He then went 15-for-21 on faceoffs and led all players on the field with 12 ground balls at Belmont Abbey. He has secured 12+ ground balls in five of the team's eight games so far this season.

The Blue and White are 7-1 on the year, marking the best start to a season in program history.
