Men's Lacrosse Slated Third in SSC Preseason Poll

Melbourne, Fla. – The Lynn University men's lacrosse team was picked to finish third by the league's coaches in the 2019 Sunshine State Conference preseason poll, announced Wednesday by the conference office. It is tied for the highest preseason ranking in the program's six-year existence.

This year's poll marks the highest the Fighting Knights have ever been voted in the preseason, matching their No. 3 selection in the 2016 poll.

The Blue and White return 25 players from a year ago, including Second Team Preseason All-American Dryden Brous and two-time All-Sunshine State Conference selection Mikey Urso.

For the sixth consecutive season, SSC coaches select the University of Tampa as the preseason favorite. With 48 points and six first-place votes in the poll, the Spartans are expected to recapture the league championship. Saint Leo University, the 2018 national runner-up and SSC champion, finishes second in poll voting with 40 points and a first-place vote, while Lynn comes in a close third with 38 points and the final first-place vote.

This is the first time Lynn has ever received a first-place vote in the preseason poll. Check out head coach Brian Kingsbury's SSC season outlook video interview HERE. View the SSC release with the full poll HERE.

The Fighting Knights kick off their season at home on Sunday, Feb. 17, with a 12 p.m. game against No. 7 NYIT.
