BOCA RATON, Fla. - Lynn University men's soccer student-athletes Alexander Roth and Alun Webb have been selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District First Team, as announced by CoSIDA on Thursday. These teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
This marks the first time since 2009 the Fighting Knights have had multiple men's soccer academic all-district selections and 12th time overall. Both student-athletes are now eligible for Academic All-America recognition.
Roth was recently honored as a First Team All-Sunshine State Conference selection after leading the league in shutouts, with 11, while being second in goals-against average (0.48) and save percentage (.826). The Graz, Austria, native holds a 3.49 grade-point average while studying for his master's in business administration.
Webb is one of the top offensive playmakers in the SSC, ranking in the top-three in goals (eight), points (20) and game-winning goals (3) to earn First Team All-Conference accolades. The Llandudno, Wales, product has a 3.35 grade-point average in his master's in business administration studies.
Ten of the 15 members of the CoSIDA Academic All-District 5 came from the Sunshine State Conference, with Lynn, Florida Tech and Rollins all receiving multiple selections. Alabama Huntsville, of the Gulf South Conference, also had two honorees.
Both Lynn student-athletes will be on the field when the Fighting Knights battle Palm Beach Atlantic in the second round of the NCAA South Region Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 4 p.m. in West Palm Beach, Fla. Fans can watch the action live at LynnFightingKnights.com.
