BOCA RATON, Fla. - Lynn University's men's soccer team earned three Division II Conference Commissioner's Association All-South Region selections, as announced on Wednesday afternoon. Niklas Tasky and Alun Webb were tabbed First Team honorees while Alexander Roth was a Second Team pick.
Tasky anchors a defense which is one of the best in the nation. The two-time First Team All-Sunshine State Conference selection, and repeat D2CCA First Team All-Region honoree, has led a defensive unit which is allowing 0.51 goals per game, sixth-best in the country, on a mere 2.9 shots on goal per game. In addition, the team's shutout percentage of .688 is third-best in the nation.
The leader of the Blue and White offense, Webb has a team-high nine goals, five assists and 23 points. The senior out of Llandudno, Wales, has set a career-high for goals, tied his personal-best in points and ranks in the top-three of the SSC in each category. Also a two-time SSC First Team selection, Webb received D2CCA First Team recognition last year.
Roth collects Second Team accolades for the second consecutive year despite leading the Sunshine State Conference and South Region with 11 shutouts. His 0.51 goals-against average, .809 save percentage and 12 victories are second in the SSC.
Both Tasky and Webb are now eligible for D2CCA All-America honors. The Sunshine State Conference had 15 overall picks, including seven first team selections and the South Region Player of the Year, Charlie Dennis from Palm Beach Atlantic.
Lynn knocked-off top-seeded Palm Beach Atlantic in the NCAA Division II Tournament second round and now hosts No. 2 seed West Alabama on Friday, Nov. 17, at 4 p.m. Fans can watch the match live on the Lynn Sports Network.
