Kansas City, Mo. – Lynn University's men's soccer team received some good news a day before it plays in the NCAA Division II National Semifinals: Niklas Tasky and Alun Webb were named to the United Soccer Coaches First Team All-South Region. The Fighting Knights have now received at least one USC All-Region selection every year since 1996. The duo are now eligible for All-America accolades.
Tasky is one of the top defenders in the nation who anchors one of the stingiest defenses. The two-time First Team All-Region and All-Sunshine State Conference selection has led a defensive unit which allowes 0.51 goals per game on a mere 2.8 shots on frame with 12 shutouts.
Following an injury to All-American forward Jack Watson, Webb emerged as one of the top playmakers in the vaunted SSC. The senior midfielder leads the league with a career-best 23 points and is tied for second with a career-high nine goals. Another repeat First Team All-Region honoree, Webb has also logged team-high five assists.
Lynn was one of three teams to have multiple first team honorees, joining Palm Beach Atlantic and West Alabama. Overall, the SSC earned 12 selections, including seven first team picks.
The Fighting Knights play Rockhurst Thursday, Nov. 30, at 6 pm ET in the NCAA DII national semifinals in Kansas City, Mo. Fans can watch the action live at LynnFightingKnights.com.
