Tasky Headlines Men’s Soccer All-SSC selections

Melbourne, Fla. – Led by an extremely stout defense, it should come as no surprise that Lynn University defender Niklas Tasky and keeper Roberto Bazzichetto were named to the 2018 All-Sunshine State Conference Men's Soccer Teams, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.  Tasky earns his third consecutive First Team selection while Bazzichetto garners a Second Team honor.

Lynn currently ranks second in the SSC in goals allowed (12), goals-against average (0.78) and goals allowed per game (0.80).  The squad is also 19th in the nation in GAA.

Tasky joins some exclusive company in program history, becoming the 10th player to be a three-time All-SSC selection and the fifth to be a three-time First Team honoree.  He joins Lee Porter (2005-08), Ross Lumsden (2001-03), Lee Dukes (1999, 2001-02) and Fin Tomulevski (1999-01) as three-time First Team picks.

The senior out of Hannover, Germany, added some goal scoring to his repertoire this season, tallying a career-high two goals, two assists and six points.

Bazzichetto joins a long list of talented net minders to collect All-SSC recognition.  In his first season with the Blue and White, he has posted a 9-3-1 mark with five shutouts, a 0.85 GAA and 25 saves.  His top performance came at 18th-ranked Nova Southeastern where he stopped a career-high eight shots in a 0-0 stalemate.

Lynn has seen a goal keeper earn All-SSC accolades for three consecutive years and 15 overall.  This also marks the 21st consecutive year with multiple All-SSC selections.

Barry's Flavio Colasanti was named the SSC Player and Offensive Player of the Year and Francisco Greco the Freshman of the Year, Palm Beach Atlantic's Juan Sanchez was honored as the Defensive player of the Year while Brian McMahon collected Coach of the Year recognition.

The Fighting Knights defeated Florida Southern 3-1 in the SSC Championship Quarterfinals, setting up a rematch at second-seeded Barry on Thursday, Nov. 1, at 4:30 p.m.  The winner moves on to the championship final on Sunday, Nov. 4, against the winner of PBA/NSU.  Fans can watch the action live at LynnFightingKnights.com.
