Kansas City, Mo. - Lynn University men's soccer captain Niklas Tasky was honored as a United Soccer Coaches First Team All-South Region selection, as announced late Monday evening. The Fighting Knights have recorded at least one All-Region honoree every year since 1996, the first year the institution was eligible.
A 6-foot-4 stalwart out of Hannover, Germany, Tasky anchored a Blue & White defense which allowed a mere 15 goals in 18 matches (0.83 per game) and an average of four shots on frame per match. Often tasked with defending opponents top offensive players, only three goals were scored by the 12 All-South Region forwards/midfielders Lynn faced this season.
Not only a presence on the defensive side, Tasky added a career-high two goals, two assists and six points.
Nine of the 11 first-team slots were filled by Sunshine State Conference institutions and 18 out of 22 between first and second teams. Palm Beach Atlantic led the way with five selections while Barry, Florida Southern and Nova Southeastern each logged three picks.
Lynn ended the season 11-4-3 overall and the NCAA Division II South Region runner-up. The Blue and White are slated to return 20 letterwinners, including six starters.
