Men’s Tennis Ranked Sixth Nationally

Tempe, Ariz. – The first Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis National Team Rankings of the 2018 season were released this week with Lynn University's men's tennis squad claiming the No. 6 spot in Division II.

The Fighting Knights closed out the 2017 season also ranked sixth following a 20-6 record and a runner-up finish in the SSC Tournament. Lynn was one win away from an appearance at the NCAA National Championships, falling to eventual national champions West Florida in the South Regional final.

Defending NCAA Division II National Champion, West Florida, opens the 2017-18 season as the No. 1-ranked men's team. The men's rankings also see Barry, last year's runners-up to West Florida in the NCAA tournament, at No. 2. Columbus State (No. 3) and Valdosta State (No. 4) remain in the top five, and are joined by Azusa Pacific, who went from No. 13 at the close of 2017, to No. 5 this week. Lynn (No. 6), Saint Leo (No. 7), Hawai'i Pacific (No. 8), Lander (No. 9) and Embry-Riddle (No. 10) all return to the Top 10.

The 2018 season will introduce a new system of computerized rankings from the ITA. A national rankings panel voted on the Top 25 teams, and will do so through the month of February. The computerized rankings will then take over and debut on March 21, 2018, with national team, singles and doubles rankings.

The next set of national team rankings will be released on February 21. Fans can view the full list of rankings, along with preseason singles and doubles polls, HERE.
