Men’s Tennis Sweeps Eckerd in Midweek Action

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University's men's tennis squad picked up a strong team win on Tuesday as the third-ranked Fighting Knights blanked Eckerd College in Sunshine State Conference competition, 9-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Eckerd only dressed five players, so Lynn started off the match up 1-0 with a default victory at No. 3 doubles.
  • Kay Bartmann and Jose Porfirio Ordonez took care of business at the top fight, winning 8-0.
  • William Ljungstrom and Adam Lunding fought off a late Eckerd push to take the No. 2 doubles tilt, 8-6.
  • Eckerd was again forced to default the No. 6 singles match.
  • 8th-ranked Jean-Baptiste Mateo battled at the No. 1 position, pulling out a 7-5, 6-2 win.
  • Bartmann looked sharp at No. 2 with a 6-0, 6-0 rout.
  • Florian Clemares (6-4, 6-4) and Tristan Houle (6-1, 6-1) posted identical set scores in their wins at the third and fourth flights, respectively.
  • Porfirio Ordonez rounded out the day with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at No. 5.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • The Fighting Knights have just one match left on their regular-season schedule.
  • Ljungstrom made his collegiate debut.
