Men’s Tennis Trio Wins Titles at Sailfish Invite

West Palm Beach, Fla. – Three Lynn University men's tennis players won titles on Sunday to conclude the Fighting Knights' opening weekend at the PBA Sailfish Invitational. Kay Bartmann and Jose Porfirio Ordonez were victors of the #2 doubles flight while Ryan Neale was named the #8 singles flight champion.

#1 Doubles Flight

  • Lucca Baptista and Gabriel Hocevar took home fourth place after falling to PBA's Hasegawa/De Silva on Sunday, 8-6.

#2 Doubles Flight

  • Bartmann and Porfirio Ordonez capped off a solid weekend of pairs play with an 8-4 victory in Sunday's championship match. The duo took down Feigin/Melhaoui from Rollins for the title.

#3 Doubles Flight

  • Diego Valant and Adam Lunding Johansson started off strong on Friday with two big wins but fell in the championship match on Sunday, 8-5, to FSC's Sakellarides/Pham.

#4 Doubles Flight

  • Neale and Renato van Veggel defeated PBA's Meneses/Paz on Sunday in the fifth-place match.


#1 Singles Flight

  • Bartmann had a shot for a second title but fell in the championship match to Saint Leo's Bruno Faletto (6-2, 7-5).
  • Baptista brings home seventh place following a Rollins default.

#2 Singles Flight

  • Hocevar took down FSC's Alvaro Arias in the fifth-place match, 6-2, 6-4.

#3 Singles Flight

  • Porfirio Ordonez closed out his weekend with a win, taking the third-place match over Saint Leo's Noel Kunz, 6-3, 7-6 (5).

#4 Singles Flight

  • Lynn did not have any players in the fourth singles bracket.

#5 Singles Flight

  • In a close battle, Valant fell to John Sakellarides of Florida Southern in the seventh-place match, 7-5, 4-6, 10-7.

#6 Singles Flight

  • Lunding Johansson brought home fifth place with a straight-set victory over Freddie Danielson of Rollins (6-1, 6-2).

#7 Singles Flight

  • van Veggel secured third place with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph over ASA's Alvaro Ostros.

#8 Singles Flight

  • Neale was the Blue and White's final champion, claiming the title following a 6-1, 6-0 victory over ASA's Masato Naganuma.


  • Florida Southern had the most champions with four, followed by Lynn and Barry with two apiece.

The Fighting Knights head off to Lakeland, Fla. this weekend for the ITA South Region Tournament.
