Bridgewater Named Palm Beach Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year

Deerfield Beach, Fla. – Justin Bridgewater, an incoming freshman set to compete for the Lynn University men's cross country and track programs in their inaugural seasons, has been tabbed the Palm Beach 2A-1A boys track and field Athlete of the Year by the Sun-Sentinel, announced this week.

Bridgewater, a recent graduate of King's Academy in West Palm Beach, Fla., repeats as the Athlete of the Year after also claiming the award last year as a junior.

While he wasn't able to repeat as the Class 1A 800-meter state champion, Bridgewater sprinted to a runner-up finish in the 800m at the state track and field meet in Jacksonville this spring with a time of 1:57.27. He also qualified for state in the 1,600m and earned first-place finishes in the 800m at the Palm Beach County Championship, district and regional meets. The senior was also a member of the school's 4x800 and 4x400 relay teams.

As a junior last year, Bridgewater claimed 2017 District, Regional and State titles for FHSAA Class 1A track and was named the Palm Beach Post and Sun Sentinel Track Athlete of the Year after breaking the school record in the 800.
