New Orleans – Lynn University's men's cross country program has been selected eighth in the Preseason United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Region Poll headed into the 2019 campaign.
Notching an eighth place finish at its first-ever NCAA South Regional, the Blue and White earn a top-10 ranking in the preseason poll for the first time in program history.
All-Region and All-Conference runner Hunter Dobbs will lead the Fighting Knights into 2019 after 12th and 23rd place finishes at the SSC and Regional Championships, respectively.
Six SSC schools appear in the South Region Poll led by the 2018 South Region Champions Embry-Riddle, which sits in the second spot. Florida Southern (No. 3), Saint Leo (No. 6), Tampa (No. 7), Lynn (No. 8) and Nova Southeastern (No. 10) round out the list of member-institutions in the top-10.
Lynn will be the host institution for the 2019 SSC Cross Country Championships on October 26. Both the men's and women's races will take place at South County Regional Park in West Boca Raton, beginning at 8 a.m.
Florida Southern will then play host to the NCAA's South Regional, which will take place at Holloway Park in Lakeland, Fla. on November 9. The top-three programs at the regional meet will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championship on November 23 in Sacramento, Calif.
