Softball Holds Ninth-Ranked Tampa to Two Runs in Loss

Tampa, Fla. – The Lynn University Softball team dropped the first game in a three game Sunshine State Conference series to ninth-ranked Tampa, 2-0, on Thursday night.  The two-run loss is the smallest margin by the Fighting Knights against the Spartans since the 2010 season. The Blue & White drops to 20-19 overall and 4-18 in SSC action.
 
Lynn was held to just one hit in the loss that game in the third inning when Leanne Wright reached base on a successful bunt. Tampa (30-5, 18-4 SSC) only had just hits in their victory.
 
Missy Montgomery (8-10) tossed her 15th complete game of the season, allowing two runs, both of which were earned. She walked just one batter while allowing five hits in seven innings of work. 
 
The Fighting Knights and Spartans conclude the series with a double header on Friday, April 18.
