BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University's softball team dropped the first game in a three game Sunshine State Conference series to Nova Southeastern 9-0 on Friday afternoon. With the loss, Lynn falls to 18-19 overall and 2-11 in the SSC.

The Fighting Knights were able to load the bases in the first frame after surrendering three runs to the Sharks (18-14, 6-4 SSC) in the top half on a home run. Unfortunately, Lynn stranded all three runners in the first as well as runners in scoring position in the second and fourth innings.

Nova scored a run in the second, four more in the third and one more in the fourth to end the game early.

Kasey Murray (8-11) started the contest but was relieved early by Missy Montgomery after only a third of the inning.  Montgomery allowed six runs, five earned, in 4.1 innings of work with one striketout.

Offensively, the team was led by Crystal Cano, who went 2-for-2.

The Fighting Knights conclude the series with Nova on March 29, with the first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.  Fans can watch the action live at or receive in-game updates by following @LUKnights on Twitter and Instagram.
