Softball Drops Series Opener at Saint Leo

Saint Leo, Fla. – Lynn University's softball team fell 6-0 in the Sunshine State Conference series opener at No. 11 Saint Leo on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Lions did most of their damage in two innings: the second and sixth.
  • A bases loaded walk, followed by a wild pitch put Saint Leo up 2-0 in the second frame before an infield single kept the inning alive and plated SLU's third run.
  • The Lions loaded the bases again in the sixth with a RBI single and a pair of RBI groundouts finishing up Saint Leo's scoring.

STATS FROM THE GAME:

  • Francais Olexa allowed six hits with five walks and four strikeouts while surrendering eight hits.
  • Olexa was also one of two Lynn baserunners on the night, drawing a walk in the fourth while Amanda Casillas logged the only hit.

BEYOND THE BOX:

  • Olexa collected her 12th complete game of the year.
  • Casillas made her season debut, going 1-for-2 at the plate.
