Olexa Earns D2CCA Softball All-Region Recognition

Huntsville, Ala. - Lynn University softball player Francais Olexa was named to the Division II Conference Commissioner's All-South Region Second Team, as announced on Monday.  Olexa becomes the first all-region selection for the softball program since 2013.

A junior out of Delta, British Columbia, Canada, Olexa anchored the pitching staff for the Fighting Knights and helped the team to its best season since 2004. As the top arm in the circle she posted a 13-12 record with two saves, a 1.94 earned-run average and 123 strikeouts in 166 innings pitched while holding opponents to a .207 batting average.  Olexa was arguably one of the top pitchers in the Sunshine State Conference, ranking in the top-five for opponent BA (1st), saves (2nd), strikeouts (3rd), earned run average (4th) and innings pitched (T-5th) while her 13 victories was sixth.

In addition to her prowess in the circle, Olexa batted leadoff for the Blue and White, boasting a .294 batting average, 20 runs scored and 21 runs batted in.

Lynn went 26-22 overall and 12-12 in league play.  The Fighting Knights overall record was the best since 2004 and their SSC mark had not been achieved since 2003.  The team returns seven starters for 2018, including Olexa and All-SSC selections Karolina Flores, Victoria Rios and Kayla Sheffield.

The Gulf South Conference placed 17 players on the two teams, including 11 of the 14 First Team selections, while the Sunshine State Conference had eight representatives and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference had three choices.
