Women’s Basketball Can’t Overcome Slow Start in Tampa

Tampa, Fla. – Lynn University's women's basketball team saw its three-game winning-streak snapped after a 65-43 loss at the University of Tampa on Saturday afternoon.. Tifani Kerrison led the Fighting Knights with 12 points while Tashina Bailey and Tylar Tracy each had four rebounds. Lynn drops to 14-7 overall and 7-4 in the Sunshine State Conference
Tampa (14-6, 4-6 SSC) started the game with a 10-0 run over a the first six minutes of play until Charla Nelson-James was able to score the Blue & White's first basket with a layup, which sparked an 8-0 run and cut the deficit to two. Tampa would retake a double-digit lead with five minutes left in the first half, 22-11, to force a LU timeout but the Spartans were able to extend their advantage to 33-13 heading into the half. 
Lynn opened the second half strong, forcing a UT team turnover to jumpstart an 8-0 run with Bailey and Tracy each logging baskets.  Tampa responded, though, by putting Lynn in a 52-25 hole midway through period to seal the game.
