Women’s Basketball Beats the Lions on Pride Rock

BOCA RATON, Fla.- The Lynn University women's basketball teamtraveled to St. Leo on Saturday afternoon for its first game of 2013. Kira Harvey posted a game-high 20 points for the Knights. Lynn advances to 8-3 overall, 1-1 in the Sunshine State Conference. 

Tylar Tracy shot a trey five seconds after tip-off that gave the Knights a lead they would hold the entire game. The biggest first half margin came at 4:07 after Tiffani Kerrison made a layup, for the Knights to hold a 25-14 lead. LU continued their power to hold the Lions to 39-26 at halftime. 

Harvey scored 13 points in the first half, while Kerrison added 10 off the bench. The Blue & White shot 40% from the field while holding St. Leo to a 37.9 shooting percentage and 11 turnovers. 

Lynn continued to rally after the break with a 17-8 run that would give the Knights their biggest lead of the game 58-34, with 13:34 to play. The Lions slowly answered back but LU held them off to finish with a 17 point victory, 68-51.
LU pulled down 28 boards in the second half, while shooting 34.5% from the field. Amanda Schultz scored seven points while Tracy pulled down six boards in the final half. Chelsea Connelly and Teresa Manigrasso both tallied 13 points a-piece in the loss for the Lions.
