Women’s Basketball Pillages Pirates

Savannah, Ga. – Lynn University's women's basketball team earned a 76-54 victory over Armstrong Atlantic behind a second-half showing of strong shooting and defense.  Kira Harvey recorded her second consecutive double-double with a game-high 25 points and 14 rebounds while Tylar Tracy chipped in 12 points off the bench.  The Fighting Knights improve to 3-0 overall.

Trailing by as many as 10 points, the Blue & White used a 19-9 run to tie the contest for the fourth time.  Harvey and Tracy combined for 11 points while Amanda Schultz, Tashina Bailey and Charla Nelson-James also contributed with timely buckets.

Shatorria Baker put Lynn on top 32-31 after Zachara Bailey forced one of the Pirates (2-1)22 turnovers and Baker sank a mid-range jumper on the fast break just before the half.

Armstrong Atlantic was able to retake the lead on its first possession of the second period but the glory would be short lived as Harvey keyed a 26-5 run with a three from the left wing to put the Blue & White on top 58-38.  Lynn held AASU to 1-of-14 shooting and forced seven turnovers during the eight minute span.

The Fighting Knights maintained its double-digit lead for the remainder of the game, with the Pirates only able to get within 16 points, 60-44, following a lay-up by Tori Klewicki-McNutt.  Nelson-James immediately responded with a free-throw and Schultz and Tashina Bailey knocked down back-to-back jumpers to put Lynn back ahead by over 20 points.

Lynn shot 41.7 percent from the field, 40 percent from three-point range and 72.7 percent from the free-throw line while also notching 11 steals.  On the flip side, LU held Armstrong Atlantic to 32.3 percent shooting.

The Blue & White return to the hardwood on Saturday, November 17, at 1:30 p.m. when they square-off against Flagler.  Fans can catch the action live at LynnFightingKnights.com.  Don't forget to 'Like' us on Facebook and follow @LUKnights on Twitter and Instagram.
