BOCA RATON, Fla.- Lynn University's women's basketball team fell to Barry 85-79 in Wednesday evenings Sunshine State Conference match-up. Although they didn't come away with the win, the Blue and White had four players score in double digits led by Zachara Bailey who scored a season high 23 points, matching her highest scoring game of the season for the third time. The Fighting Knights move to 15-10 overall and 7-8 in SSC play.
Lynn came out strong in the opening period, starting with back-to-back jumpers by Sharneka McCatty and Tylar Tracy to claim their first led of the game, 5-4. Barry answered with a nine point run, taking their largest margin of the half, 17-27. McCatty noted eight points in the first half, with two blocks and pulled down five boards.
Trailing, 33-26, at the beginning of the second half Lynn had some ground to make. Barry kept up the momentum in the second half though, shooting 59.3 percent from the field and 58.3 percent from the field. The Fighting Knights shot 42.4 percent and forced the Bucs to turn the ball over seven times in the second frame.
Bailey scored 20 of her total 23 points in the second half, shooting 50 percent from the field and three-point range.
