BOCA RATON, Fla.-Lynn University's women's basketball team fell 79-52 to Saint Leo University on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Knights move to 9-8 on the season and 2-5 in Sunshine State Conference play. Zachara Bailey scored 22 points, shooting four-of-six from three-point range while Tylar Tracy and Sharneka McCatty had nine points apiece.
The Fighting Knights tried a different lineup, giving Freshman Nina Guillaume some quality minutes. Looking to match the size of the Lions (14-3, 5-2SSC). Lynn was unable to keep up with the quick ball movement, allowing Saint Leo to shoot 53.1 percent from the field and pull ahead with a 19 point advantage at the half, 41-22.
Bailey had 15 points in the opening period, shooting 100 percent from three-point range and five-of-six from the field.
Lynn battled back but was unable to shut down Saint Leo's offense, having five players score in double digits. The Fighting Knights never gave up but it was the Lions who came out on top.
Overall the Blue and White shot 24.4 percent from the field and 43.8 percent from the free throw line.
