Women’s Basketball Stays Perfect on the Season

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University's women's basketball team outscored Palm Beach Atlantic 20-5 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 66-56 victory in both team's Sunshine State Conference openers.  The Fighting Knights open the season 5-0 for the first time since 2012-13.

STATS OF THE GAME:

  • Lynn shot 34.9% from the field for the game but made it when it counted in the fourth quarter where it shot 50%.
  • Palm Beach Atlantic was held to 36.2% shooting and a mere 13.3% in the final quarter.
  • Juju Uloma led all scorers with 13 points off the bench on 6-of-10 shooting and added a game-high 10 rebounds.
  • Jaylen Snipes scored 11 points and chipped in five assists and three steals.
  • Kelsi Fizer was second on the team with eight boards and two steals.
  • Mina Salhia led PBA with 12 points while Jonika Garvin scored 11 points.
  • Christina Potts just missed out on scoring in double-figures with nine points, going 1-of-5 from the field, and 6-for-6 at the free-throw line.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • This is the sixth time in program history the team has started 5-0 and first since 2012-13.
  • Uloma recorded her first career double-double.
  • Uloma's 10 rebounds are the third-most in her career.
  • Lynn had three blocks, giving the team four consecutive games with at least three blocks.
  • The Fighting Knights' 46 rebounds are a season-high while the 11 steals tied a season-high.
  • Lynn snapped a four-game skid in SSC openers, winning its first conference meeting for the first time since 2013-14.
  • The Blue and White improved to 9-13 in league openers.
  • With both Embry-Riddle and Tampa falling on Wednesday, Lynn becomes the only undefeated team in the SSC.
