Melbourne, Fla. – The elusive All-Conference recognition was finally reached by Lynn University women's golfer Jenny Ayala as she earned All-Sunshine State Conference Second Team accolades, as announced by the league office on Friday.
The Bogota, Colombia, product has had her finest season in her senior year dropping her career stroke average by nearly two shots at 74.75 with four top-10 finishes, including a runner-up finish at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invite. She is the 29th ranked women's golfer in Division II and No. 13 within the SSC. Additionally, this year she tied the program record for lowest round (68) and locked in the second-lowest 54-hole score at 212.
Ayala led Lynn to its seventh consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, and 16th overall. She heads into the postseason ranked in the top-five in program history for career rounds and stroke average and is tied for seventh with 16 career top-10 finishes.
In addition to her first All-Conference honoree, Ayala also recorded her first top-five finish at the SSC Championship, earning her first SSC All-Tournament accolades.
This marks the 20th All-SSC selection for the women's golf program while Ayala is the 13th different golfer to garner All-SSC recognition.
Barry's Tilda Larsson was named the SSC Golfer of the Year while Florida Southern's Ashley Zagers was honored as the Freshman of the Year and Nova Southeastern's Heather Wall was named the Coach of the Year.
Lynn takes part in the NCAA South Regional May 7-9 at the Germantown Country Club in Germantown, Tenn. The top-three teams and top three individuals not associated with qualifying teams advances to the national championship, held May 16-19 at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas.
