Coral Springs, Fla. – Lynn University women's golfer Jenny Ayala was named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association All-America Second Team, as announced on Thursday. Ayala led the Fighting Knights in stroke average and top-10 finishes while guiding the team to its seventh consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
The senior out of Bogota, Colombia, is the first All-America honoree for the women's golf program since Jessica Bradley and Samantha Smolen in 2014-15, and the 31st selection in program history.
Ayala posted the fourth-best stroke average (74.93) for a single season in program history and bested her previous average by two shots. She logged four top-10 finishes, including runner-up placings at the GolfRank Invite and the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational. At the PKB Invite, Ayala tied for the second-lowest 54-hole school record with a 212 total while becoming the seventh golfer in school history to post a round of 68.
Her senior year has been littered with awards: WGCA All-America, WGCA All-South Region, All-Sunshine State Conference Second Team, Google Cloud Academic All-District First Team and Lynn's Scholar Athlete of the Year.
The Fighting Knights graduate two seniors, Ayala and Samantha Barber, but return three starters in Kristina Ortiz, Helen Kreuzer and Matilda Wahren. For more information check out LynnFightingKnights.com.
