Women’s Soccer Earns Draw with #3 Keiser

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Using its opening weekend as motivation, Lynn University's women's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw with third-ranked Keiser University on Thursday night.  Caroline Duerr scored her first goal as a member of the Fighting Knights while the squad rattled off 28 shots against one of the top NAIA teams in the nation.  Lynn moves to 0-2-1 overall.

The Blue & White started off a bit sluggish but quickly gained momentum midway through a terribly humid evening.  A substitution 25 minutes into play revitalized the home squad and put the Seahawks (3-1-1) on their heels the remainder of the half.  Lynn's persistence paid off in the 43rd minute when Kelly Field sent a straight ball down the left sideline.  Running onto the pass, Donish Cole split a defender and keeper Felicia Sedell to find Duerr for the first goal of the match.

Lynn's intensity proved too much at the start of the second half as the team over pursued a long throw-in from the left corner from Stephanie Morini.  Johanna Engberg boxed out her defender and flicked a header just over the hands of Caitlin Shaver for the equalizer minutes into the period.  The two squads then dug into the trenches over the next 60 minutes, including two overtime periods.

The Fighting Knights are back in action on Sunday, September 13, when they host Southeast Missouri State at 6 p.m.  Fans can watch the action live at LynnFightingKnights.com and receive in-game updates by following @Lynn_Knights on Twitter and Instagram.
