Women’s Soccer Falls to Saint Leo

Saint Leo, Fla. – Lynn University's women's soccer team opened up Sunshine State Conference play with a difficult 3-1 loss to Saint Leo University on Saturday night.  Donish Cole found the back of the net for her second consecutive game and Summer Schults notched her first assist of the season but the Fighting Knights drop to 0-5-1 overall and 0-1-0 in league play.

Saint Leo (4-2-1, 1-0-0 SSC) started its scoring when Katie Waddell converted on a penalty kick at the 12:16 mark.  Just two minutes later, though, Cole put a shot past the Lions keeper off a pass from Schults to even the match 1-1.

But with 16 minutes left in the first half, Lions defender Selena Jaimes scored her second goal of the season for the eventual game-winner.  SLU added its final goal in the 71st minute from Genevieve Gignac.

The Blue & White return to the friendly confines of Bobby Campbell Stadium when they host top-ranked Barry University on Wednesday, September 23, at 7 p.m. Fans can watch the action live at LynnFightingKnights.com and receive in-game updates by following @Lynn_Knights on Twitter and Instagram.  Don't forget to 'Like' us on Facebook.
