Melbourne, Fla. – Lynn University women's soccer player Emily Weisberg has been named the Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week, as announced on Monday. Weisberg scored three goals in helping the Fighting Knights upset 12th-ranked Barry for the team's first victory of the season.
The freshman out of Waxhaw, N.C., had a game for the ages against the rival Buccaneers, notching a hat trick and an assist. Weisberg scored her first career goal off a free kick and then added the tying goal in the 85th minute to send the match into overtime off her first penalty kick. She ended the match in Lynn's favor with another PK goal in the 95th minute to shock Barry.
Her seven points in a game were the most for a women's soccer player since 2009 while the hat trick was the first since 2012.
Lynn is back on the pitch on Monday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m. when it hosts Webber International. Fans can watch the match live at LynnFightingKnights.com and receive in-game updates by following @Lynn_Knights on Twitter and Instagram.
